Away fixture
Escort Utrecht: The Lineup on an AwayFixture
Utrecht is compact, historic and quietly lively. A university city with a medieval heart, it sits at the centre of the Dutch rail network and draws a steady stream of conference guests, academics and weekend visitors. Many stay a night or two, and want the evening to count.
Our companions are based in Amsterdam and travel to Utrecht for bookings, so treat it as an away fixture with its own game plan.

Sec. 02
The character of the city
The Dom Tower rises above the old centre as the tallest church tower in the Netherlands, visible from much of the city on a clear evening. Below it, the Oudegracht is unlike any Amsterdam canal: its old wharf cellars sit right at water level and now house restaurants and bars with tables beside the water. Neude square, the Museum Quarter and the leafy streets around Wilhelminapark add plenty of variety within a short walk. With tens of thousands of students in town, the bars stay lively well into the evening, yet the canal-side streets keep a calm, almost village-like feel.
Sec. 03
Where visitors stay
Utrecht Centraal is the busiest station in the country, and the area around it, including the Jaarbeurs convention and exhibition centre, holds many of the city's larger hotels. Smaller boutique stays and apartments are scattered through the historic centre along the canals, and business hotels near the ring roads serve visitors arriving by car. Tell us which zone you are in when you message, as it helps us plan the route.
Sec. 04
Travel and extra notice
Utrecht is roughly 45 kilometres from Amsterdam, usually 40 minutes to an hour by road depending on traffic on the A2. That is longer than any home fixture, so please give us more notice than you would for a hotel in the city, and earlier still on Friday evenings or during big events at the Jaarbeurs. Your arrival window is agreed in the chat ahead of her departure, so you know exactly when to expect her.
Sec. 05
A Utrecht evening
Because she has travelled, a longer booking often makes the most of it: dinner at a wharf-side restaurant on the Oudegracht, a walk beneath the Dom, then back to the hotel. Longer formats and dinner dates are on request, and the rates page explains how they are confirmed. Every companion on the lineup can be requested for Utrecht.
Sec. 06
Timing around the Jaarbeurs
Utrecht's calendar revolves around the Jaarbeurs. When a major trade fair or show is on, hotels near the station fill up and the roads into the centre slow noticeably from late afternoon. If you are in town for an event, arrange your booking ahead rather than on the night, and tell us when your programme ends so her arrival lands after the crowds have cleared. Weeknights outside the busy event dates are generally easier, and late evening bookings tend to have the smoothest run of all.
